DIPLO, SKRILLEX, & A-TRAK TEAM WITH ICONICTV TO CREATE YOUTUBE MUSIC NETWORK "POTATO"
Globally acclaimed DJs Diplo, Skrillex, and A-Trak have partnered with IconicTV to create POTATO, a web-based music network on YouTube that aims to bring back the spirit of early music television for the digital and mobile era. Recognizing that there is a parallel between today's YouTube explosion and the early days of cable TV, the trio developed a music outlet that echoes MTV’s initial mission statement: "You'll never look at music the same way again." The channel launches on YouTube in Fenruary the 15th. 2013
Potato’s programming will give voice and vision to the immensely diverse and ever-growing field of music, recognizing that there no longer is a divide between musician and fan.
Potato is a joint venture with management companies TMWRK & Blood Company and IconicTV, which is run by Larry Aidem (former President & CEO of the Sundance Channel) and Michael Hirschorn (CEO of Ish Entertainment and former head of programming for VH1). The channel's general manager is Hallie Harris, a former music manager and music publishing exec. The Director of Programming is Mike Ostolaza, who was an integral part of developing MTV Clubland. Its creative director is the photographer & video director Shane McCauley.
Check bellow the first BANG! episode with spotlight segment on techno-rooted city of Detroit, with interviews by Skrillex, Boys Noize and pioneering producer-DJ Kevin Saunderson. Also i recommend to follow after Blow Your Head series, and check the new mixes name Potato Mix Series with first guest mix by MOBY. Visit Potato tv

Magit Cacoon session on Be-At TV
Magit Cacoon is a DJ and producer behind the label Girl Scout. She also released music on Upon. You Records and Be As one.
Magit Cacoon has been connected to electronic music since her early years in Tel Aviv, and since relocating to Berlin, has set herself apart with that rare combination of a performer’s charisma and a trained ear that can recognize what’s “next level” in the global electronic dance realm. After three years as resident at Sweat Lodge Radio , Magit's has now launched her own label Girl Scout and has teamed up with the Upon. You crew to release her productions. Outside the studio, she DJs regularly in Berlin and throughout Europe with an extremely fluid approach to mixing, weaving together different styles such as house, techno and soul music.
Magit Cacoon had developed quite a broad perspective on dance music, playing in the city’s most notorious clubs as well as in leading European venues, linking her up with some of the freshest DJs and producers around. In 2011, with a keen sense for the sounds that move our souls on the dancefloor, she realized the next natural step was to create a home for her own productions by founding a record label: Girl Scout was born. With a handful of releases so far and more to come, Girl Scout is the home for some of her tracks and remixes, as well as from friends such as P.Toile, Nunu, Astronivo, &Me, Nico Purman and Tigerskin.
Of course Magit also enjoys being part of a greater framework beyond Girl Scout, having previously released on Shlomi Aber's Be As One Label and Upon. You Records, remixed the UK band Porcupine Tree, working on future releases in Girl Scout and Upon. You Records. Meanwhile, she continues to perform worldwide, always refining her style and gaining inspiration along the way.

UPZ and Black Motion Sweeping Africa nation
Afrika Wo-man is the next single from the acclaimed “Pioneers of House: UPZ” CD. The single see's UPZ (aka Avi Elman) from Tel-Aviv, Israel collaborating with South African producers Black Motion, featuring the vocal talents of Theo Lawson from Ghana with backing vocals by Delight from Nigeria.
The first half of the video was shot with UPZ, Theo and Delight in Tel-Aviv. The video captures the street life of South Tel-Aviv with its multi-cultural immigrant population... here you will find races and cultures from the Philippines, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan and Turkey interspersed among the native israeli population, which is in itself in many ways non-homogenous & multicultural.
Both Theo and Delight emigrated from their respective countries several years back and have adapted Israel as their new homeland. Saturdays is when many of the immigrants attend Church due to Sunday being a normal working day in Israel, and it is mostly during one Saturday mid-summer that we shot the footage for 'Afrika Wo-man' whose lyrics are not about African ladies or females as such, but actually calls for the empowerment of the African people, where the word 'Wo-man' means 'Nation” in Ga, one of many Ghanian dialects.
UPZ than travels to South Africa and meets up with the Black Motion duo who reside in the township of Soshanguve just north of Pretoria. It is here the second part of the video is mostly shot and to continue the overall vibe set in Tel-Aviv, the main aim is to capture daily life in the township... driving in a taxi, returning from school or work in the cities, basic grocery shopping or hanging at the local Shisanyama. The video peaks with a spontaneous street party of UPZ & Black Motion in Soshanguve, interspersed with Black Motion in action from one of their dynamic live show performances.
In these coming days the Afrika Wo-man video will be broadcasting on all SA TV music video channels such Channel O, Trace Africa, MTV Africa, CLub 808 and more.
Directed by Yaron Amitai
Video produced by Avi Elman for soWHAT records
Shot in Tel-Aviv, Israel & Soshanguve, South Africa
